Exploring Computer Science (ECS) Professional Development 2024

FreeExploring Computer Science is a high school computer science curriculum and teacher professional development program created to broaden participation in computing.
Join educators from across Washington this summer at Capital Region ESD 113 for a five-day Exploring Computer Science (ECS) course. ECS is designed to be just as accessible to educators as it is to students — no computer science experience needed!
You’ll leave the training with the resources you need to implement ECS in your classroom in the 2024–25 or 2025–26 school years. Districts that use ECS will be in compliance with SB5088, which requires all high schools to offer computer science. ECS has three strands:
- Computer Science Concepts: ECS develops teacher confidence in course content and introduces students to core computing concepts.
- Inquiry: ECS goes beyond computing knowledge to develop student skills in collaboration, pattern-finding, and abstract thinking.
- Equity: ECS makes connections to real-world concepts and seeks to provide more access to computer science.
